I am the proud owner and builder of a fine ironwood longbow! Under the excellent and patient tutorship of Ben Stevens, Master Bow Crafter, I turned an ironwood limb into a beautiful and lethal bow.

It was three days of serious work, using only hand tools, common to any wood shop. At first glance, it was intimidating and seemed an impossible task. But, using Ben’s step-by-step technique, the raw limb morphed into a work-of-art as well as an effective hunting bow.

Harvesting an Alaskan moose with my own handcrafted bow will be the culmination of a lifelong dream.

I look forward to attending one of Ben’s classes in the future. Besides teaching laymen to build their own bows, Ben will offer video instructions and a free instructional book on techniques. You can also commission Ben to build a custom bow to meet your needs.

Verified student bow-builder and moose hunter.
